My Approach

"Awareness is like the sun. When it shines on things, they are transformed.”
- Thich Nhat Hanh

I work in a way that’s relational, trauma-informed, somatic and works to be grounded in the present moment. That means we begin wherever you are, not where you think you should be. The goal to start with isn’t to change yourself, but to understand yourself. And in that understanding, often something powerful and transformative is unlocked.

This a gentle and tender process. As I aim to create a space when we meet that is compassionate, kind and safe.

I draw from somatic practices, gestalt therapy, inner child work, mindfulness and mediation and my own lived experience of healing from complex trauma, addiction, and spiritual abuse.

So much of trauma is about deep sense of feeling unsafe and the healing journey is about regain and deeper and deeper levels of safety inside ourselves.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."

Carl Rogers

The body remembers

Often with clients, we start with calm and bring a deeper sense of safety and regulation into the nervous system. This is considered a bottom-up approach. From my own lived and professional experience, before some of the deeper emotional issues can be accessed, it's often easier when our bodies have started to shift out of the fight, flight, freeze, and fawn response so often held with childhood trauma.

In our work together, we may use:

  • Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) to gently support nervous system regulation

  • Tremoring or grounding practices to release held survival energy

  • Simple, body-based check-ins that help you learn to feel safe in your own skin again

You won’t be pushed to “go into” anything. We go slowly, with full respect for your pace.

A human approach to healing

I don’t position myself as an expert on your life. I bring training, tools, and years of practice but I also bring my humanness. I’ve known what it’s like to feel lost, to sit in deep grief, to wonder if healing is even possible. That experience informs how I show up, with honesty, gentleness, and care.

My role isn’t to steer you toward any particular version of healing but to help you find your own way back home to yourself.

"To be human is to feel at home in the world. If a person has no home, he becomes sick"

Erich Fromm
